Model: ChatGPT (GPT-6)
ChatGPT Intelligent UI is a new answer format in ChatGPT that lets GPT-6 build visuals and interactive tools — comparisons, diagrams, calculators, even games — around your question instead of replying in plain text. OpenAI began rolling it out on 7 October 2026, and it changes how brands are shown, compared and chosen inside an answer.

- On 7 October 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT.
- ChatGPT now builds visual and interactive answers — comparisons, diagrams, calculators and games — and picks the format automatically.
- It can start answering while it is still thinking, so the first thing surfaced matters more than ever.
- For brands, visibility now means being the option ChatGPT places in the comparison, not just mentioned in passing.
- reconnAI tracks how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overview answer, and re-baselines when a change like this ships.
What ChatGPT actually launched
On 7 October 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT. In OpenAI’s own words, ChatGPT can now “combine text, visuals, and interactive elements to fit your question” — from side-by-side comparisons and diagrams to tools you can use inside the conversation, such as calculators, bill splitters and games. It chooses the format automatically, and still answers in plain text when that works best.
The rollout started globally for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise in the Chat tab, and reached Free and Go the next day. Paid tiers run on GPT-6 Sol and free tiers on GPT-6 Luna, with Intelligent UI available from Instant through Extra High reasoning. The Pro reasoning option keeps using GPT-6 Astra without Intelligent UI, and the models behind Work and Codex are unchanged.
How Intelligent UI works
Intelligent UI means ChatGPT decides the shape of an answer, not just its words. GPT-6 reads your question and assembles the response from text, visuals and interactive parts — a comparison table when you are weighing options, a diagram when you are learning a process, a small calculator when numbers are involved — then falls back to plain prose when that is clearest.
It also answers progressively. GPT-6 can begin responding while it continues to think or use tools, then add more findings without another prompt, so people start reading before the full answer is ready. That makes the first thing surfaced — the opening line, the top row of a table, the brands named first — the part that shapes the reader’s impression.
Why interactive answers change visibility
Interactive answers change visibility because your brand is no longer just named in a paragraph — it can be slotted into a comparison, a diagram or a tool that the model builds on the spot. Being mentioned is not enough; you need to be the option ChatGPT puts in the first column and describes accurately.
When answers default to side-by-side layouts, the model has to decide who belongs in the comparison and how each option is framed. That raises the stakes on the signals behind how LLMs decide which brands to cite: clear positioning, consistent facts and credible third-party corroboration are what get you into the table rather than left out of it.
Where your brand shows up now
GPT-6 can render your category in several new shapes, and each one surfaces brands differently. Comparisons. A side-by-side table that lists you against rivals on price, features or fit. Interactive tools. A calculator or picker that quietly assumes which providers are worth including. Diagrams. A visual of a process or landscape where you are either a labelled node or absent. Plain text. The classic answer, still used when a direct reply is best.
Who gains and who loses
The brands that gain are the ones whose facts are structured, current and easy to line up against competitors; the brands that lose are those whose key details are vague, trapped inside images, or inconsistent from one page to the next. A comparison table is unforgiving — it needs a clean value for every cell, and a model that cannot find yours will leave the cell blank or leave you out.
We saw the same pressure when ChatGPT added virtual try-on for shopping: richer answer surfaces reward brands that publish clean, machine-readable detail and quietly penalise those that do not.
How to make content answer-ready
The fix is not to chase one layout but to make your facts easy for any model to read and compare. State the essentials plainly. Who you serve, what you offer and on what terms, in text rather than graphics. Keep them consistent. The same figures and claims across your site and off-site profiles. Make them comparable. Clear specs, prices and categories a model can slot straight into a table.
That discipline is the heart of building a GEO strategy and of getting your brand ready for the way models read the web — the groundwork we set out in is your brand ready for AI search?
What Intelligent UI changes in ChatGPT answers
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI on 7 October 2026.
Does Intelligent UI cite sources?
Yes — when GPT-6 browses to build an answer it can reference the pages it reads, so a brand with clear, current content can appear by name in a comparison or behind an interactive tool. When it is not browsing, it leans on the brands and sources it has learned to associate with your category, which is why consistent, well-structured content pays off either way.
The same logic shaped our coverage of ChatGPT Deep Research and the new publishing surfaces in ChatGPT Profiles and Sites: a model that fetches and checks rewards substance over tactics.
How to check your ChatGPT visibility
Because a change like this reaches everyday users within days, it is worth taking a baseline now. Here is a short, practical way to see how ChatGPT handles the questions around your brand — today is 9 October 2026:
- List your real questions. Write down what customers actually ask before choosing a provider like you.
- Ask ChatGPT directly. Run those questions and note whether the answer comes back as a comparison, a tool or plain text.
- Watch the layout. See whether you appear in the table, how you are framed, and who sits beside you.
- Check the sources. Where it browses, see which pages it leans on and whether your own content is among them.
- Compare across models and regions. Repeat in Gemini, Claude and Perplexity and in your key markets, since answers differ.
- Track the trend. One run is a snapshot; the value is in watching movement as Intelligent UI rolls out.
How reconnAI tracks Intelligent UI
reconnAI monitors how the leading AI models — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overview — answer questions across regions, and re-baselines that tracking whenever a platform ships something that changes behaviour. A new answer format that decides how brands are shown and compared is exactly that kind of moment.
It joins a busy run of shifts we have followed lately, from GPT-6.1 Sol and the GPT-6 Astra flagship to virtual try-on in ChatGPT. ChatGPT Intelligent UI: your questions answered
What did OpenAI launch? On 7 October 2026, OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT, letting answers combine text, visuals and interactive tools instead of plain text alone.
What is Intelligent UI? It is ChatGPT choosing the shape of an answer — a comparison, diagram, calculator or game — automatically, based on your question, and still using plain text when that is clearest.
Who can use it? It rolled out globally to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise in the Chat tab, then to Free and Go the next day. Paid tiers use GPT-6 Sol and free tiers use GPT-6 Luna.
Why does it matter for brands? Because answers increasingly appear as comparisons and tools, your brand has to be the option the model places and frames inside the layout, not just a name in a sentence.
How do I track my visibility across models? Baseline the questions your customers ask, run them across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, and watch how the answers change over time — which is what reconnAI automates.
