What changed:
A new option in File Explorer and the OneDrive Activity Center lets you summarize a file with Copilot and send that summary within the share dialog. Previously, users needed to create summaries separately before sharing.
Why:
Sharing a file often means the recipient has to open it just to understand what it's about. Now, Copilot generates a summary for you so the people you share with get the key points upfront, right in the share notification.
Try this:
Open File Explorer and select a file stored in OneDrive.
Choose Share, then select the option to generate a Copilot summary.
Send the file along with the summary to your recipient.
Open OneDrive activity center and select a file.
Choose Share, then select the option to generate a Copilot summary.
Send the file along with the summary to your recipient.
Why this matters:
Business impact:
Your recipients can quickly decide if a file needs their attention without opening it first. Whether you're sharing a proposal, report, or meeting notes, the summary gives everyone the context they need to act faster.
Personal impact:
Makes it easier to communicate key points without extra steps.
